Add DNS records at your provider

Find your DNS settings and publish SendMero's TXT records.

Use the provider hosting your DNS

Your DNS provider may differ from the company where you bought the domain. Add records where your domain's active nameservers are managed.

Before you start

Open Sending Domains → your domain → DNS Records in SendMero and run Verify domain to check existing policies. Keep this tab open while editing DNS.

SendMero fieldProvider field
TypeSelect TXT.
NameEnter the record name or host, following your provider's format.
ContentPaste into Content, Value or TXT data.
TTLChoose Auto, or keep the provider's default.

For SPF or DMARC, follow SendMero's edit instructions instead of adding a duplicate policy. See DNS records explained.

Cloudflare

  1. Select your domain and open DNS → Records → Add record.
  2. Choose TXT and enter the Name, Content and TTL from SendMero.
  3. Click Save.

TXT records are always DNS-only; there is no proxy setting to change.

GoDaddy

  1. Open Domain Portfolio, select your domain, then open DNS → Add New Record.
  2. Choose TXT. Enter the host in Name, without the zone's domain suffix, and paste the content into Value.
  3. Keep the default TTL and click Save.

Namecheap

  1. Open Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS for your domain.
  2. Under Host Records, click Add New Record and choose TXT Record. Enter the host without the zone's domain suffix, paste the Value, and use the default TTL.
  3. Click Save all changes.

These steps apply to Namecheap BasicDNS, PremiumDNS and FreeDNS. If you use other nameservers, edit records at that DNS provider instead.

Amazon Route 53

  1. Open Route 53 → Hosted zones and select the existing public zone serving your domain.
  2. Click Create record, choose TXT, and enter the record name, value and TTL. Use simple routing for a standard TXT record.
  3. Click Create records.

Route 53 requires TXT values in double quotes. For a long DKIM value, use adjacent quoted chunks on the same line, preserving the full value; separate lines represent separate record values.

Google Cloud DNS

  1. Open Cloud DNS, select your existing public zone, and choose Add standard.
  2. Enter the DNS name, choose TXT, and paste the content into TXT data. Keep the default TTL.
  3. Click Create.

Enter the host name correctly

If your DNS zone is example.com and the provider appends that suffix, enter only the part shown below:

Full name in SendMeroHost to enter
mail.example.commail
selector._domainkey.mail.example.comselector._domainkey.mail
_dmarc.mail.example.com_dmarc.mail

Use your actual selector and domain. For a record at the zone root, GoDaddy and Namecheap use @; Route 53 allows the name field to be left blank. Follow the provider's instructions when it expects a full name.

Verify in SendMero

After saving, return to your domain in SendMero and click Verify domain, Restart verification or Recheck DNS, depending on its current status. DNS changes may take time to appear.

Best practices
  • Check the final saved name to make sure the domain wasn't appended twice.
  • Preserve existing email policies and unrelated DNS records.
  • Keep verified records published after setup.
