Usage
See how many recipients you have sent, the limits that apply to your workspace, and your dedicated IPs.
The Usage page shows what you have sent this month and in earlier months. It is separate from Overview, which is about delivery results.
What counts as usage
Usage counts recipients. A message to 3 recipients counts as 3.
- A recipient counts once we have attempted to send the message to the mailbox provider. A recipient that later bounces or complains still counts.
- Anything we refuse before that point is not counted: a request or SMTP message with an invalid API key, a sending domain that is disabled or not verified, and a message we are unable to hand off for delivery.
- Each message is counted once on the day it was sent, even if it is retried.
Usage is counted in UTC. A new day starts at 00:00 UTC and a new month on the 1st at 00:00 UTC, whatever timezone your workspace uses elsewhere.
The summary tiles
| Tile | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Plan | Your plan and what it includes. |
| This month | Recipients sent so far this month. Where your plan includes a monthly amount, a bar shows how much of it you have used. |
| Today (UTC) | Recipients sent today. Where a daily limit or cap applies, a bar shows how close you are. |
| Forecast for month end | A straight-line estimate of where the month will end if you keep sending at the same pace. It turns orange if that would be more than your plan includes. |
Workspaces whose billing is handled outside the dashboard do not see the plan allowance or the forecast.
The daily chart
The chart shows every day of the month, labelled 1 to 31. Days that have not happened yet are empty. Hover over a bar to see that day's recipients.
Today's figure is up to date within a minute or so. Earlier days are final a few hours after midnight UTC.
Earlier months
Use the month menu at the top right to look at any of the last 12 months. A past month shows its total, daily average and busiest day, with the daily chart. Limits, today and the forecast only apply to the current month.
Usage for a month is only available if it was recorded. Months from before this page was introduced may be empty, even if you sent mail then. Use Activity to look at individual messages from the last 90 days.
Sending limits
The Sending limits card lists the ceilings on your workspace:
- Daily limit and Monthly limit are set by SendMero for your plan or account.
- Your daily cap and Your monthly cap are ceilings you choose. A cap can never be higher than the matching limit.
- Applies today and Applies this month show the lower of the limit and your cap, which is the one that applies.
When a message would take your workspace past the limit that applies, the REST API refuses the whole request with 429 daily_limit_exceeded (or monthly_limit_exceeded), and SMTP replies 451, and nothing is queued. See Error codes and SMTP replies. Mail that was already accepted is still sent. Daily limits reset at 00:00 UTC and monthly limits on the 1st at 00:00 UTC.
The monthly rows only appear when a monthly limit or cap is set for your workspace.
Dedicated IPs
If your workspace has dedicated IPs, a Dedicated IPs card lists each one with its pool, its state (Warming or Active) and its warm-up progress. Dedicated IPs are set up by our team on request. Email us if you want to add or remove one.
Who can see it
Everyone in a workspace can open Usage, with the built-in roles. Your workspace's Owner and Admins will be able to change caps. Custom roles need the View usage permission, which you can grant under Settings → Users & Permissions.
