Deliverability alerts

SendMero checks your bounce and complaint rates every 15 minutes and tells you before mailbox providers start blocking your mail.

What we check

Every 15 minutes we look at the last 24 hours of your results:

  • Bounce rate = (bounced + expired) ÷ (delivered + bounced + expired)
  • Complaint rate = complained ÷ delivered
RateWarningAt risk
Bounce rate2 %5 %
Complaint rate0.1 %0.3 %

These are the default limits. They match what mailbox providers such as Gmail and Yahoo apply to bulk senders, and the colours on your Overview. You can set stricter limits for your workspace, see Change your limits.

We only check a workspace with at least 500 delivered, bounced or expired recipients in the last 24 hours. A few bounces from a small send won't raise an alert.

What you get

When a rate moves into Warning or At risk you get:

  • a notification under the bell in the dashboard, and
  • an email to your workspace's Owners and Admins, plus any extra addresses you added.

Both say which rate crossed the limit, the percentage and the numbers behind it, and what to do next.

When the rate returns below the warning limit, you get one back to healthy notice.

How often you'll hear from us

  • You are told once when a rate moves into a new level. Moving from Warning up to At risk is a new level, so you are told again.
  • The same level is not announced again within 24 hours, even if the rate dips and rises again.
  • Moving down from At risk to Warning does not send anything; the notice comes when you are back to healthy.

What to do

See IP Pools for the health of the pools you send through, and the Bounce summary and Breakdown tabs on the Overview to find which domain, provider or reason is causing the problem.

Change your limits and who is emailed

Open Settings → Workspace Settings and scroll to Deliverability alerts.

Alert limits. Type your own Warning at and At risk at percentages for the bounce rate and the complaint rate. Leave a box empty to keep the default.

  • You can only make a limit stricter than the default, never looser, so you are always warned before mailbox providers start to block you. For example, you can warn at 1 % bounces, but not at 3 %.
  • Each box shows its allowed range. The warning limit must be lower than the at-risk limit.
  • Your limits also set the colours and the dashed lines on your Overview and the health on IP Pools, so everything agrees with your alerts.

Alert emails.

  • Send alert emails turns the emails on or off. Alerts still appear under the bell.
  • Email the workspace's Owners and Admins is on by default. Turn it off if the alerts should go only to your own addresses.
  • Also email these addresses adds up to five extra addresses, for example a team mailbox or an address that feeds your chat or ticket system. Each address gets the alert once.

Select Save alert settings. The new settings apply at the next check, within 15 minutes. Reset to defaults clears your limits and email choices (select Save alert settings to keep that).

Who is notified

By default, Owners and Admins by email. Anyone who can open your workspace sees the dashboard notification. You can change who is emailed in Deliverability alerts under Workspace Settings.

Who can change the settings

People whose role has the Edit workspace settings permission: Owners and Admins by default. People who can only view workspace settings, for example Developers, see the settings but can't change them. Each change is recorded in the audit log.
